I've had months to piece together my thoughts about Shop Like A Stylist for this year's Farm Chicks Vintage and Handmade Fair. All along, I knew I wanted to create something that would let everybody in on the fun - whether you choose to join me in a shopping session or not.
I got to thinking about Home Sweet Home (the theme for this year's show), and how lucky I am to be a part of the fun. That's when the idea to incorporate a lucky horseshoe symbol came to mind.
I bet most of you know that a horseshoe placed over a doorway, with the two ends pointing up collects good luck and keeps it from falling out. However, I've since learned that some traditions hold that the two ends should point downward so that luck pours onto those who walk beneath it through the door.
Being a stylist often requires me to use what's on hand. Honestly, sometimes it's making something out of nothing! Luckily - it's also the most fun, albeit challenging part of my job. So I challenged myself to create these ribbons, using what I had. Much like a patchwork quilt, these were created with bits and pieces I'd stashed away.
As you shop the show this year, I'll be spreading around these Lucky Find ribbons. They will be "Pinned" to items that caught my stylist eye, what inspired me and what I think are the best of the best of the show. When you spot one, you're in luck! Which is to say, you've found a hot collectible, a great buy, or a unique, one of a kind item. You'll also be able to visit my Shop Like A Stylist space, at the entrance to the show (by the information booth), where I'll have an inspiration board that I will 'Pin' to throughout the show. Also, follow my Pinterest board Shop Like A Stylist, (I'll be pinning my favorite finds) and you'll also find me on Facebook and Instagram.
Come horse around with me, it's sure to be a lot of fun. And know that no matter which way you choose to hang your horseshoe, (you might find a real one at the show!), you're sure to score a Lucky Find for your Home Sweet Home.
